Mock Disasters
Short of a real crisis, a mock disaster may be the best way an organization can put its crisis management capabilities to a true test.
When properly planned and executed, it's often difficult for participants to remember it's only a mock disaster. That's the way it should be.
But too often mock disasters aren't realistic enough and are not taken as seriously as they should be by those participating.
At The Wilson Group, we take mock disasters quite seriously. It's our business.
We work closely with clients to design disaster simulations that will put participants to the ultimate test. We make them difficult, but not impossible. Above all, they are believable.
But going through a mock disaster doesn't mean much if there isn't a way to measure what you did right and wrong. That's why we establish goals and what we want to accomplish before the scenario is ever written or the drill ever staged. Then, we devise methods that will leave no doubt as to how well the exercise was conducted, where participants did well and where improvements need to be made.
Make no mistake: a good mock disaster takes time, money and a lot of effort. But, if your organization is committed to doing one right, we can certainly help.
At The Wilson Group, we've been conducting mock disasters for nearly two decades and we know how to do them right.
